8th April 08 Kaleidescape Group gets library skilled. The April
social day was held on Tuesday 8th
April at the local Mypolonga RSL hall where 31 local residents
enjoyed a busy program of entertainment. The morning
session was “news around the community” and several rounds of
Bingo called by staff member Janette Dahlitz ably assisted by
Isobel Koop.
The Friends of the Tailem Bend Hospital led by Gwenda Zadow supplied a tasty 2 course meal which went down a “treat”. The afternoon session’s entertainment was library staff member, Mrs Peggy Bennett who presented a very informative talk on the Rural City of Murray Bridge’s library and its services to the public. A huge display of various books and topics was illustrated to the group and time was permitted for “questions and answers”.
A pleasant surprise was Mr and Mrs Tom Haywood who joined the group and took part in the afternoon library talk. Birthdays were celebrated by Rosa Martin and Eric Burrett. The next social day will be held on 13th May and promises to be a “bus load of fun” as the group heads off on a mystery bus tour. 11th March 08
The heat did not deter
numbers from attending the March Kaleidoscape Social day at the
Mypolonga RSL hall on Tuesday 11th March 2008.
Forty members braved the heat and enjoyed a day of reflecting on the meaning of Easter and Easter chocolate making. St Patrick’s Day is celebrated in March and an Irish tune was sung to commemorate this traditional Irish day. Two Easter quizzes challenged the group and had heads “in a spin” trying to come up with the correct answers.
Birthday greetings were extended to Eddie Benton and Isabel Koop. The next social day will be held 8th April. Check out the rest of the days pictures in the Gallery Page |

15th
Feb 08 The first Over 55’s social day for the year was held on 12th February in the local Mypolonga RSL clubrooms. Numbers continue to remain steady with 40 attending the monthly social days. For the first time, the group were entertained by a visiting author, Mr Vic Stone, from West Lakes, South Australia. The social day began with birthday greetings to Jean Kruger, John Smith, Muriel Wittwer and Stan Treloar. After morning tea, the group reminisced the old washing days, and relived the inventions of the Hill’s Hoist and the Victa Mower. This prompted many stories to be told, from washing powders, types of washing machines and the back yard copper. The men of the group enjoyed talking about the push mowers and the “prop” clothes lines. Added laughter and fun was had when a “mini” clothes lines was erected and members were asked to pin the washing on the lines. Various styles of hanging out clothes was witnessed. After a delicious two course luncheon the group was introduced to Mr Vic Stone, author of two books, namely “The List” and “The Signature”. Vic Stone was born in the Murray Mallee and went to Rabaul (Papua New Guinea) as an educator. His novels draw on his own experiences in Rabaul and he writes about the war stories in PNG – absorbing fiction based on true fact. The group were very attentive and impressed with the author’s presentation. Go to the Gallery Page for the pictures.![]() |
